Gorilla Highlands Coffee and Edirisa UK have built a partnership focused on promoting Ugandan coffee, supporting local communities, empowering women, and strengthening sustainable livelihoods in the Gorilla Highlands region of southwestern Uganda.

Upcoming Project
An important upcoming initiative under the partnership is the planned improvement of the Mwaro Women Coffee Farmers’ storage facility. The project will involve installing windows and doors and tiling the facility to create a cleaner, more secure, and more suitable environment for storing coffee.
These improvements are intended to help protect harvested coffee from environmental exposure, improve storage conditions, and support better quality management. The project will also strengthen the Mwaro women’s capacity to manage their coffee collectively and prepare their produce for better market opportunities.
Shared Vision
The partnership reflects a shared understanding that coffee is more than a commercial product. It provides opportunities to create employment, improve household incomes, empower women, and strengthen the communities that depend on coffee farming.
By combining Edirisa UK’s community development initiatives with Gorilla Highlands Coffee’s experience in coffee sourcing, processing, roasting, and marketing, the organisations are working towards a more inclusive and sustainable coffee value chain.
Looking ahead, the collaboration offers opportunities to expand support for women coffee farmers, improve storage and processing infrastructure, strengthen quality standards, promote climate-smart coffee production, and connect more Ugandan coffee to local and international markets.
